[Abstract]

The industrial design of a modern forklift truck is a long and delicate process due to stringent regulations and increasingly challenging performance requirements.

The validation of a prototype requires the overcoming of numerous experimental tests, where the failure of one of them involves design changes, with inevitable delays and exponential increase in development costs.

RecurDyn fits into this context becoming an indispensable ally. From the early stages of developing a forklift truck, the multibody dynamic simulation with RecurDyn allows the simultaneous verification of product performance by guiding the design through the choice of the best concept up to the validation of the prototype. At every step of the project, the simulation environment of RecurDyn offers irreplaceable tools to accurately replicate the required experimental tests (handling, stability, overturning) by providing fundamental information to the designer: it follows the reduction of development costs thanks to the prevention of deep changes of the project and to the drastic reduction of the number of prototypes and experimental tests.

During the webinar will be presented the virtual execution of an experimental test for the validation of a forklift prototype using the unique tools of RecurDyn V8R5: contact technology, flexible bodies and tire model.
